Fed Leaves Rates Unchanged, Mortgage Rates Down More
First, let's start with the good news, mortgage rates are down more than they were last month, which
fueled buyer demand
nationally. There's a lot for financial markets to digest at the moment and the
economic backdrop
will be challenging and may fuel a recession this year.
The Fed left rates unchanged and Fed Chairman Powell said tariffs could delay progress on lowering inflation.
How will tariffs affect home prices?
Everything from appliances to lumber and drywall is expected to increase and add anywhere from $7500-$10,000 per home, so new homes and remodeling will be more expensive.
Locally, it's a mixed bag, with many areas now in buyer's market territory, other areas on the cusp of turning into a buyer's market. See local stats below.
